RUNNING FOR A GOOD CAUSE |
The competition was developed on a 5km route among the different types of vegetation and trees of the Park “ della Resistenza” in Riccione. The race, being held on a rainy day, was made even harder by the unremitting drizzle, the stinging cold and the mud. But after a warming-up conducted by the P.E. teacher, the young participants managed to reach the finishing line and fulfill the goal of this race.
Said goal was that of supporting the “ Banco di Solidarietà “ ( Food Bank) a national non-profit association which collects and distributes food across Italy. Every month around 310 charity structures help 120.000 poor and outcast people thanks to the delivery of food parcels containing non perishable foods of prime necessity. They also support canteens to produce over 2400 meals per day for the people in need in our region.
The work of the “ Banco di Solidarietà “ has an environmental purpose, too, in fact most part of this food, which is perfectly usable, would be thrown away. The Food Bank collects it, recovers it to be used again, avoiding waste.
